The Children’s Art Museum main mission is to expose children to art and the art world. (recommended for children aged three to eleven)
The museum’s collection includes works by artists who dedicate and address their creations to children.
The works consist of wide-ranging historical periods: from ancient to contemporary times. The art ranges widely, from painting on canvas or wood to photography or video, including sculpture as well as installations.
Among the artists are: George Lilanga, Pancrazzi, Patrick Fracassi, Tito Sarrocchi and Fulvio Corsini. The collection provides the material for the learning activities. The other areas of Santa Maria della Scala are also used, for example, the Pilgrims Hall and the Archaeological Museum.
The approach to the visual arts is interdisciplinary and so a visit to the museum is designed to engage children on various levels so that they may experience the art and consequently, remember the experience.
